A project belongs to a customer and optionally to an order, and has a responsible person, a time budget and a cost budget. The work is split into tasks, time is tracked directly on the task, and billable time is later turned into an invoice. That shows in one place how far a project has come, how much time and money has gone into it and which hours have not been billed yet. FeaturesWhat the module does in detail ------------------------------ ### Projects - States open, in progress and done, plus progress as a percentage - Time budget and cost budget next to the costs incurred so far - Sub projects for larger undertakings - One responsible user per project - Linked to a contact and an order - Margin per project as a dashboard widget ### Tasks - States open, in progress, done and canceled - Board view with tasks arranged by state - Priority, start date and due date with reminders - Time budget per task - Linked to the lines of an order - Categories and comments that mention colleagues ### Time tracking - Track time on tasks, projects and tickets - Work time types to classify entries - Billable flag per time entry - Locked time entries that can no longer be changed - Widget showing billable hours not yet assigned to an invoice ### Billing Tracked time is turned into orders that become invoices like any other order. No hour of work ends up in a spreadsheet that someone has to retype at the end of the month. In practiceA project from commission to invoice ------------------------------------ A customer commissions a piece of work. You create a project, link it to the customer and the order, name a responsible person and enter a time budget and a cost budget. Larger undertakings are split into sub projects. The work itself sits in tasks with a due date, a priority and a time budget of their own. The team moves them across the board from open through in progress to done and tracks time right on the task, each entry with a work time type and a flag saying whether it is billable. At the end of the month the dashboard shows how many billable hours are still open. You turn those hours into orders, the invoice is created from them, and the project margin shows whether the work paid off. Where the module stops ---------------------- There is no Gantt chart, no milestones and no dependencies between tasks. Nuxbe is built for projects steered by tasks, time and budgets, not for critical path scheduling. Frequently asked questions -------------------------- Can I bill project time directly? Yes. Time entries flagged as billable can be turned into orders in bulk, and the invoice is created from those. A widget shows how many billable hours are still open. Is there a kanban board? Yes. The tasks of a project can be shown as a board grouped by state. Can I set a budget per project? Yes, a time budget and a cost budget. The costs incurred so far are shown next to them. Does Nuxbe support Gantt charts and milestones? No. Projects are steered through tasks, states, progress and budgets. Can tasks be linked to an order? Yes. A task can hang on a line of an order, for example the line the work was sold with.
